Introduction When Chris Hadfield was a young boy, he watched on the neighbors TV Neil Armstrong walk across the moon and from there on his journey of becoming an astronaut had began. During this passage through life he reveals his physical development, cognitive development and social development changing as he comes into his later adult years. As a child he began working on his future and as he grew up continued going to school and studying as hard as he good. Chris reaches Piaget’s Formal operational stage, where he is able to solve abstract problems with logic and becomes more scientific in thinking. All of Chris’s School helped him quit nicely when it comes to his cognitive development.
Social Development He demonstrated his social development when he was out working in groups and placing the groups’ needs over his own (p.105). Chris Hadfield had many interactions with others as he was growing into his adult years, as he transitioned through Erikson’s stages. He experienced Erikson’s stage of intimacy vs. isolation, when he has away from his wife and children. In all Chris had developed through Erikson’s stages of social development to be the person he needed to be later in life.
Cultural Competence Chris Hadfield was part of many different cultures traveling around the world and attending many different schools. He talked about Russia where he took part in their cultural although it was sometimes hard and not his own (p.33).
