Every athlete’s goal is to win a championship. Coming with a championship, most athletes’ main focus is to be inducted into the hall of fame where their name and accomplishments are recognized forever. However, winning a national championship in college is much more difficult when you are competing against 63 other schools across the country who are hungry for the same trophy. Nonetheless, that challenge was accepted and accomplished by current athletic director and former soccer player for Elizabethtown College, Chris Morgan.
Chris Morgan, who grew up in Wilmington Delaware, graduated from Elizabethtown in 1991 with a degree in business administration. Chris grew up wanting to play soccer so him and his parents looked at several schools

Morgan was on four NCAA tournament teams, but his most notable year was his junior year when Elizabethtown hosted and won the NCAA national championship. The Blue Jays defeated Greensboro 2-0 to cap off a 23-2 season. Chris was also named Defensive Most Valuable Player of the Final Four during that tournament.
“I was fortunate to be on four very good teams and three of those four years we were ranked number one in the country,” Morgan said on his experience playing. “Because we were ranked, there was an expectation that we could compete at the highest level and the three years that we fell short, it was a disappointment. I was very fortunate to be apart of great teams for four years with quality players and great people. It was special and pretty awesome to have the opportunity to be inducted. What made me even more proud was that our team was inducted as well.”
After his collegiate career, Chris Morgan became the athletic director at Goldey-Beacom College in 1999. Morgan was at the helm when the Lightning won seven CACC championships and made 13 NCAA Regional Tournament appearances. Then in 2011, Chris accepted the same position at Kean University. Under his lead with the Cougars, 13 teams made the NCAA tournament along with two baseball World Series appearances.
In 2015, Morgan accepted the director of athletics position at his alma mater. In the forthcoming years, Morgan said he hopes to bring in good coaches and staff to keep Elizabethtown’s athletic program on a pedestal. Additionally, Chris is hoping to address challenges that student athletes face and what they can offer to make their experience better. In fact, he mentioned that current student athletes at some point will be required to complete some online education on mental health, and sexual violence. Morgan’s experience playing and leading, are all benefits that he learned in order to make students’ college time
