Don’t waste time: Go Straight to the League Many people believe that playing at a collegiate level is needed, and helps to make someone a better athlete. Well, not every athlete needs college to help develop their game, because they already have the ability to play at a high level. College is like a detour from some of the top high school athletes, stopping them from playing professionally. The draft rules making athletes play at a collegiate level causes many people to have to waste years playing when they could already be dominating in the professionals. There is also a serious chance that top prospect athletes may get injured while playing college ball. This could cause athletes to lose their chance at playing sports at the highest level. Even though college will help athletes to further develop their game, it is not needed to become a better player in the professionals. Ray Seals was a well-known NFL player, who played for eight seasons and one super bowl, never attended college. NBA players like LeBron James, Kobe Bryant, and Kevin Garnett have all won NBA titles, MVPs, and All-Star selections while never playing college basketball. Garnett and Bryant have both retired after playing twenty plus season, and James is on 15th season. MLB players such as Derek Jeter, Alex Rodriguez, and Cal Ripken Jr. all had World Series Championships and multiple All-Star appearances (Dimengo). The names of these athletes are names that would be remember for a long time, and are some of the greatest to ever play in their profession. They have all accomplished great achievements while playing, and it goes to show that athletes do not need to play at the collegiate level in order to have successful careers in the
