Summary
Psychology, Theology, and Spirituality in Christian Counseling written by Mark McMinn gives us a view of what it is like to be a Christian counselor. McMinn shares stories from his experience as a counselor he also shares his graduate students experience as well. Throughout McMinn book he tries to explain the benefit of prayer and scripture through Christian counseling. McMinn book is very detail and thought out. At the end of each chapter he writes a summary and a reflection of what the chapter was about. The book is filled with different examples of different scenarios and experiences Christian counselors experience. Acknowledging that you have sin and repent can play a major role is overcoming some of the client’s orbitales. The counselor should encourage confession of sins, but only when the client is ready. Confession can also lead to forgiveness. Forgiveness can help you have a better relationship with God, it would allow you to have better relationships with others. Forgiveness helps the client let go of the pain or hurt that they are feeling. Forgiveness also helps the client feel good about their self. Forgiveness is a release it can set a client emotionally
