Christian Worldview Essay

During my time in Faith and Reason, I have come to understand many new things about myself, as well as the religion that I claimed to belong to. These things ranged from the existence and nature of God, to the existence and nature of myself. This class has revealed my own worldview to me; Christian Theism. In an effort to explain that worldview, I will answer the four questions that every worldview must answer. The first question, “Where did we, and the universe, come from?” is perhaps the easiest to answer. I believe in the christian faith. I believe that God created the heavens and the earth, and that the creation story in Genesis is a divine revelation from God given to humans in an effort to help us comprehend the magnitude of his creation. …show more content…

God clearly defined for us what morality is, and how we can apply that to our daily lives. Beyond that, one can simply look at the perfect example of a “good” human that God gave us in the form of Jesus Christ. Jesus is the example of what a “good” human should be. Going beyond that, I believe that humans are born with an innate sense of what is right and wrong. Professor of Psychology Paul Bloom from the university of Yale states, “we have found that even 3-month-olds respond differently to a character who helps another than to a character who hinders another person. This finding hints that moral judgment might have very early developmental origins.” (Cook) Even babies can tell the difference between what is right and what is wrong, because of that innate sense of morality that humans share. The final question, “where do we go, if anywhere, after death?” is a difficult one for me to answer. I believe that God has prepared for humanity an afterlife in heaven, where we will live in paradise with him when we die. I believe that God will reward humans for the good deeds they perform, and forgive them for the sins they committed during their time on earth. I also believe that Jesus is the key to this afterlife, and without him humans would be incapable of entering into the kingdom of heaven. Because of his sacrifice, we have a chance at
