All religious traditions promote the concept of world peace and each does so according to its “particular sphere of influence.” Both Christianity and Islam place great emphasis on the value of peace within their religious communities and throughout the world. The principle teachings about peace of both of these religious traditions are found through their corresponding sacred texts and are the driving force behind the contribution of each religion to world peace.

Through initiatives by the:
Pax Christi
It is an international Catholic peace movement that works to help establish peace, justice and reconciliation in parts of the world that are in conflict, inspired by the Gospel. It is grounded in belief that peace is possible and that cycles of violence and injustice can be stopped. They believe that through dialogue between different religions, it can become a tool for a better understanding and peaceful co-existence.

Secondly, National Council of Churches in Australia (NCCA)
Campaigns the ecumenical initiative, ‘Act for Peace’ which aims to reduce poverty, protect refugees, prevent conflicts and empower communities. Through the promotion of ecumenical and interfaith dialogue, the NCCA aims to bring peace to communities that are affected by poverty and conflict in more than 150 countries.

Thirdly, Orthodox Peace Fellowship
Is an organisation of Orthodox Christian believers pursuing to “testify to the peace of Christ by applying the philosophies of the Gospel to situations of division and conflict.”
