They Earned it for Us Back in the day, being African America in the United States you were faced with many obstacles and unfair ways because of the color of your skin. The Civil Rights Movement helped us get us to the fairness we have today. Many blacks sacrificed their lives and the lives of others to get these rights. One right, which is taken granted for, is the right to vote. We as blacks need to step up and live the free and equal lives of black leaders of the past died for.
The Civil Rights Movement is defined as the national effort made by black people and their supporters in the 1950s and 1960s to eliminate segregation and gain equal rights. Marches, rallies, boycotts, and speeches led by black leaders that tried to help get blacks today get the rights we have today. They strongly forced what they thought was right, it often ended with, pressured water, incarcerations and sometimes death. The history and legacy of being black is awful, yet amazing. Although the ignorance in the black community today seems to be throwing our history behind.

Malcolm X advised African Americans to judiciously exercise their right to vote ,Reverend Martin Luther Junior, a social activist, who led the Civil Rights Movement, was assassinated because of what he thought was right. Civil rights activist Rosa Parks refused to surrender her bus seat to a white passenger, urging the Montgomery boycott and other efforts to end segregation. She was incarcerated because of bus seat. My grandmother marched alongside King for she too wanted equal rights for blacks. Today she is delighted with joy but also hurt for all the black sacrifices are being left behind. The number deaths of blacks that fought for our rights are unbearable. We must continue the fight and legacy of ancestors left for
