Class Reflection/Participation Paper I thoroughly enjoyed my Social Work class with Jon Boyd. I feel the information presented in lectures and in readings will be beneficial knowledge for my future. I plan to keep my textbook from this course and the print outs from the lectures as references not only through the rest of my education, but also as I begin a career in Social Work. Regarding the readings, I read the textbook in preparation for the lecture or if I did not complete before, would read it after the lecture to further understand the content. I found the readings informative and helpful for fully understanding the content presented in lectures. I downloaded all the lectures at the beginning of the term so I would have them saved on my computer, that way when it was the day of that lecture, I was able to take notes to further my understanding and remember the details not mentioned in the lecture notes. I feel like my active listening skills and note taking allowed me to do well on the midterm exam. I enjoyed listening to Boyd’s lectures because they were informative and interesting. His own personal experiences were very interesting and the videos were very informative. Although I am more introverted then extroverted in a classroom setting, I found I was comfortable in this class and felt acceptance and lack of judgment. I tried to open up and express my opinion throughout the lectures. My goal for this course as it is for every course is to speak up and either answer a question or voice my opinion at least once during every class. I feel like I accomplished this goal and even surpassed my goal by speaking up multiple times in some
