April 7, 2023 To Whom It May Concern: This letter offers my upmost support for Ms. Valerie Halbardier. She serves as the Resource Specialist at Orangethorpe Elementary School in the Fullerton Elementary School District for the 2022-2023 school year. As a Teacher on Special Assignment for Student Support Services, I had the pleasure of working with Valerie in order to familiarize her with our special education programs. Ms. Halbardier creates a warm, inviting classroom that promotes learning and takes into account the specialized needs of her students.
For this field experience assignment, I observed a 4th grade teacher called Mrs. Davoren. Mrs. Davoren classroom consist of 30 students. Of those 30 students, five were ELLS and two had a disability. On this particular day, Mrs. Davoren was continuing a lesson regarding lines, line segment, and rays. She incorporated a variety of different activities and learning strategies to meet the needs of each of her students.

Although this setting was not in a school, the characteristics and guidelines were the same. Beginning at nine o’clock in the morning on June twenty-sixth, I, along with many adults and about a hundred children of all ages, gathered in the sanctuary of West Rome Baptist Church. The kids were assigned groups based on gender and grade level.
This intention is demonstrated in the lot of resources designated every year for technology development. Examples of the digital-age learning culture present in the school are the updated computers for students and teachers in every classroom, the two computer labs inside the media center, the one to one I Pads program in middle school, and the great network infrastructure installed. I observed a classroom at a high school and observed a French class taught by Mrs. Mrs. taught freshman through seniors French I, during my observation. I observed through periods 1, 2, 6, and 7. I really got to see the difference of the classroom from the morning to the evening. The way I saw the beginning of the day to the end of the day being different is, the morning was calmer and the evening was more chaotic. When looking at this week’s discussion, it reminded me of a course that I had completed a few MODs back where I was conducting a list of assessments on a kindergarten student at my school. The parent wanted to know the results and compare them to children her son’s age even though I had already explained in full detail that these are only assessments for my course work so that I could get used to assessing students and that they are not used to compare him to other children. I did agree to share the results with her if she wished, nevertheless, after providing my explanation to her again, she did not want to see the results. Since some schools are more open to the idea of intertwining technology with learning, some factors should be considered before transitioning. Before integrating technology into curriculums, schools should consider possible addiction that students may acquire, lack of skills and short attention spans that may result from technological exposure, as well as the positive potential that technology has- like easy access. In the end schools should focus on both the negative and the positive side to rule out which one outweighs the other. Being exposed to technology at first can have an exciting effect on the user, overtime this can lead to addiction. Younger generations especially, can easily get captured by the contents on their computer as most of them “prefer picture to words” (Source E).
For our Capstone project we served dinner at the Russell and Ann Gerdin Hope Lodge in Iowa City on Tuesday August 4, 2015. We choose the Hope Lodge after discussing previous capstone class projects and our desire, as nurses, to do a project for adults with illnesses. We focused on adults as that is the population we all work with in our day to day careers. With Matt and Heidi working in the Clinical Cancer Center infusion suite the Hope Lodge dinner seemed an appropriate choice. We all pitched in to serve the residents a home cooked meal.
I started doing my field Experience in Lime Kiln Elementary school where I shadowed Mr. Mikalov, a fifth grade teacher, When I first walked into his classroom it was so colorful and full of artworks, student works and inspirational quotes I felt happy walking into his classroom so I would imagine what a fifth grader would feel like. Mr.Mikalov was very generous in showing me around the classroom where they have their group work, reading area on the rug.
