Classroom Environment As a future art teacher, I want to be able to influence my students to have confidence in their art skills. I want them to be able to let their creativity flow with no judgment. I want to instill the idea that there is no such thing that “I can’t draw”, my students will have the confidence to express themselves however they want. I also want my classroom to be where students can get comfortable and use art as a creative outlet rather than having them on the streets or doing drugs.
I am a firm believer that my classroom should be both Existentialist and Progressive. As stated previously I want my students to be able to express themselves through art. Many high school students go through emotional and life alternating transitions that may cause them to fail, dropout or not believe that they are good enough. From my highschool experience I saw various students feel like they were not good enough to go to college since they did not make the grades they thought they needed. Since they did not believe in themselves it was hard for them to value and try in their classes.

Just like a sport or a class you must practice in order to achieve your goals. Art works the same way, you can’t learn to draw and shade a sphere by watching. You must practice and focus on what you are trying to do. I believe my students should learn mainly because they will be able to applies whatever skills they are taught to the real world or their classes. Students go to school just as much teachers learn to teach. As a future Teacher I am strong believer in equality, students should be respected as much as teachers.
