The Cleveland Clinic has made many changes throughout the years in order to improve value for the patients. Since the departments being created were quite different from other medical, it is important for people to understand what they are seen as in the professional world and how that will impact their future. Therefore, the Cleveland Clinic needs to be able to figure out how to make sure that their Institutes can be compared to other medical departments. This means that they can improve on providing better job descriptions for their employees and describe how they match to the rest of the professional world. Even for the Institutes, goals did not seem to align at the beginning. Some of them moved at a much faster pace in to recreate services that forced around patients, and others had barely made any changes in improving patient care (Porter & Teisberg, 2019). The clinic was able to create new positions and this new leadership would be able to focus on the future of the organization (Porter & Teisberg, 2019). At first, their physicians did not really understand the costs of their supplies. There were a lot of tools that were never being used and then it was found out that costs could be reduced without influencing outcomes (Porter & Teisberg, 2019). The Cleveland Clinic did take certain steps to fix this issue and it helped with lowering their costs. Although, I still believe that they could continue improving in this area and save even more. For example, physicians and surgeons should also have more training when it comes to figuring out costs and the usefulness of specific tools. Therefore, there needs to be better communication between departments. Having a full understanding of how funds are being spent will help the clinic become more efficient in taking care of patients (Syntellis Performance Solutions, 2022). Having extra money can be beneficial in various ways. For example, it can help with improving technology, dealing with new patient needs, and handling the progression towards reimbursement models (Syntellis Performance Solutions, 2022). External factors that are also outside of anyone's control can also lead to budgeting problems.
