La Salle College High School prides itself in raising young men who are well-rounded and industrious in every manner. They expect each of their students to develop especially in eight qualities of themselves: intellect, accomplishment, faith, compassion, service, justice, integrity, and respect. Of these eight, I believe that the quality of intellect has come most naturally to me. However, I do not see intellect as solely being intelligent or having the ability to expand your knowledge easily, but more importantly, the drive and passion to learn. Now, as an eighth grader, I have feel I have expanded my knowledge of these subjects much further, now studying Algebra I, having a curiosity for all kinds of science, and boasting the unusual talent of being able to name the capital of just about any country in the world. Despite what I have learned through my life and how my knowledge and interests have expanded dramatically since I was a preschooler, I wish that at some points in my life I had applied myself more. I feel that although it is the quality that I believe has come to me most naturally, I would say in a heartbeat that intellect is the quality that I would like to develop most in my four years in high school. Although I have loved to learn my entire life, there were times where my passion to learn was not present. At times, I lost all will to learn and to expand my knowledge, and simply got by in school and did nothing more.
