Further Education in Nursing
We all go through numerous hardships in our lives which alter our way of thinking either positively or negatively. Seeing other people going through a hardship can also be an influential experience. Hardship often motivates some of us to realize that a simple act of help by anyone can make a difference in another person’s life. It was not until I went to my hometown in Bangladesh, where I met people who were struggling to stay healthy and they have motivated me to have a further education in nursing. Although, I always wanted to be involved in the healthcare field, however, it was my cousin and his neighbors, who have influenced me to pursue nursing as my educational goal. Since my childhood, I always have had a desire to be involved in the healthcare field. My first experience in the healthcare field was through my father, who in his free time was practicing homeopathic treatment in Bangladesh. My father used to commute around the village to visit the patient and after seeing the patient, he often made me deliver the medicines to the home of those people in need. I was born and raised in Bangladesh. At age of 11 my family decided to move to the United States of America for me and my bother to have a prosperous educational life. After about 10 years of being in the United States, in December 2016, we all decided to go visit our relatives in Bangladesh. It was a joyful moment, yet heart breaking to see my cousin who has been fighting with a brain tumor for about four years now. My cousin has gone through three brain surgeries and numerous radiation therapies. He has become visually impaired and needs guidance to move around. So for a couple days of my visit, I decided to take care of him. Because of my cousin I learned that being able to take care of someone’s small needs can bring so much
