Professional Development Plan To set goals is to motivate one’s self to achieve. However, just setting goals is not enough, as setting them is the easy part. Staying motivated and having a clear vision of what it is you desire to achieve in the end are keys to factors in accomplishing a goal. You must have, and maintain, the desire and drive to want to achieve those goals. The purpose of the paper is to introduce my professional development plan (PDP). A PDP is a written formal blueprint to conceptualize a plan for approaching studies. The purpose of this paper is to introduce you to my PDP for my studies at Walden University’s Master of Science in Nursing-Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner. This will also include my previous educational and experiences. Nursing has a long and proud history and has overcome many barriers since the days of Florence Nightingale. Today’s nurse has moved beyond the bedside and into roles of administration, research, and respected clinicians. I am certain that my education at Walden University will prepare me to be a successful contributor to the health care field.
