Someone once told me that an educated mind; never goes back to its original state. When someone’s horizon is expanded; they influence surroundings, the one with an education owes their society a change for better. Education is a gift given to many, not all. Some people have disabilities and aren’t able to cope with things.Those with an education owe others less fortunate a better future. With education comes the knowledge that can be a powerful force that is able to influence and change the course of many lives. It is a responsibility of every human to lift up others and encourage them, to build and not destroy. Influence can be a silent but powerful thing, whether we realize it or not. A smile, a compliment, encouragement or an eye-rolling belittling towards someone goes a long way. The way we act towards people either make them or break them. I feel like my personal responsibility daily is to put a smile on someone's face; or encourage them to share that whatever they may be going through is only temporary, and better days are ahead. I try daily to be that one person that goes out of my way to make people happy. A simple act of kindness goes a long way. Last year I made it a priority to find one person every month, and go out of my way to put a smile on their faces, I did this with teachers, students in my classes, and on the bus. I would try to get to know them by showing up to class early, asking questions, learning about what their families did over the weekend. These encounters turned into habits; I would show up to class early every other day because I loved getting to know them more these people were no longer classmates and teachers to me but a friend that I truly cared about sharing similar hobbies.
