From the time I was a child, education has always excited me. I can remember giddily relaying the lessons I had been taught to my family every day and remaining elated, even when my eagerness was met with disinterest. Today, learning continues to be a constant source of joy for me. I enjoy the excitement of discovery, of the darkness of ignorance transforming into the light of knowledge. Despite its inherent difficulty and stress, I continue to fall in love with learning and one my primary goals is to successfully become an educator. I want to give the gift of education to others.
While in high school, I have maintained the honor roll from sophomore year until now. I am certain that I would have freshman year as well, but I got off to a rough start. Despite that, I made it a priority to do well from that point on and I certainly have. I was unhappy with my academic standing and I did what it took to change that. I know that succeeding in college is the key to my success as a teacher and my overall success in life and this will be my driving force. It is a necessity that I do well and I will take every measure to make certain that I realize this. I am willing to spend hours studying, getting help, and whatever else necessary. Aside from academics, it is a goal of mine to be as involved as possible. Throughout high school, I have been so preoccupied with doing well in school and coping with the instability of my home life, that I missed the opportunity to be as involved as I would like to have been. At USI, the college I am going to attend, there is a vast array of opportunity to join clubs, activities, and to immerse yourself in anything you may enjoy with fellow students.
