Personal Essay: Working Prior To My High School Career

I take paying for college seriously. I have worked prior to college to save up money and do currently have a job. Because of school and other activities, I only work about 10 hours a week to make sure I stay on top of school work. I do receive some financial help, but I am responsible for coming up with the rest on my own. I am committed to learning and improving in the classroom. Studying is something I have always at worked diligently. Last semester I did obtain a 4.0 GPA and made the Presidents Honor Roll. Class attendance is extremely important to me, as I did not skip one class last semester or my entire high school career. Besides academic endeavors, I try to expand my learning in different realms. This time has also helped me to communicate with others in a more concise way. I am also involved in the Society for Collegiate Leadership and Achievement. This program has helped to improve my leadership skills. By spending time learning from others on how to improve specific areas of my life, I am becoming more prepared for the work place. I have had the opportunity to expand my knowledge and achievement through being a part of Oklahoma Girls State. While I was a delegate, I learned much more about government and how it all worked together. I worked with other Girls State delegates to make decisions and "elect" fellow delegates into office. My second year at Girls State I had the pleasure of being a junior counselor. This position allowed me to the opportunity to work with others and create a fun atmosphere for the delegates. I was presented with the liberty of encouraging delegates to take a chance and get involved in the election process at Girls State.
