During the month of September, I went to register for 12 week courses here at Wright college. I was appointed to one of the advisers named Cynthia Lawrence. I explained to her that this was my first time registering and that I 'd like to study law to get a job being a paralegal. I asked her for guidance on which classes to take she gave me options such as art and religion. I wasn 't sure how that would help me and explained my concerns to her
If kids are tired in the morning they would not hear all the things the teacher is telling the class. They could miss important things such as, notes for exams, projects and assignment deadlines. This can lead to poor exams and overall grades. Studies have shown that middle and high school students with adequate amounts of sleep, 8-10 hours, have better test scores (ww2kqed.org). The human body may be awake but the mind is not functioning as it should be.
In 2014, scientist in California have collected data from 46 different schools, some starting early and others starting after 8:30 A.M. Students that woke up later performed 36% better than those who slept less. If a students sleep schedule gets messed up, soon the rest of their health will too.
A senior, at Fairview High School in Boulder, CO describes it best. He says, “I know personally on days where I haven’t gotten a lot of sleep I don’t perform well on tests. I don’t perform as well in music or my performances. There are a lot of things that can be helped with a little extra sleep in the morning” (Jones). In conclusion, students that get more sleep have a better attitude, and are
Narrative: I moved to Kansas City, Kansas seven years ago. It all started when I was in 6th grade with these girls. I was a different race then them. They thought it would be cool to mess and try to get rid of the white girl. One day, they decided to try everything they possibly can to get me kicked out.
My largest expense after high school will more than likely be college based, like: tuition, books, and necessary software for classes. I am planning on filling out financial aid so my expenses aren’t as overbearing. Although, I will have to create a plan to keep track of my earnings and expenses for what aid won’t pay for. After college expenses I will need to pay for transportation.
While I do not consider it a failure now at the time I was definitely frustrated with myself and considered it a failure. When I had to repeat my junior year I was mad at myself for not be able to complete the school year. As time went on I was able to focus on the positives in the situation and I was able to finally accept that I was not prepared for my senior year both emotionally and academically considering I missed so much school. If I did continue on to senior year I would not have been close to prepared as I am now for college. I ended up repeating my junior year due to the fact that I missed close to two-thirds of school due to a medical condition.
I'm African and I'm the first in my family to graduate high school and attend college. Growing up I never expected myself to accomplish much as a student. my focus was always on starting a career , I didn't know education was the path that I was suppose to take to advance my career. I wish I could say that attending high was easy but it wasn't. it took my couple years to complete high
I knew my middle school career was over when I almost blinded my principal. Sure, I knew laser pointers could hurt someone 's eyes, or so I was told. Never had I ever used a laser pointer before, so who better to test it out on than the principal himself? Right? Apparently not.
As my Freshman year begins, I am starting to realize how important certain things are in my life. Freshman year is full of distractions that could lead to many bad things, such as putting popularity and friends before grades and education. Many people are unaware of how easily this can happen, and before they know it, they are in jeopardy of not graduating to go on to college. However, It is important to also have a life outside of grades, and to get involved at school. I plan on accomplishing three different goals by the end of freshman year and high school in general.
During my freshman year, I was largely unwilling to try new experiences and opportunities and to step outside of my comfort zone. I was more of a reserved person and would focus primarily on my academics rather than extra curricular activities or helping out in the community. If something wasn’t required, I likely would not have done it. As I moved through freshman and sophomore year, I began to see all the opportunities that the school and other organizations were providing the students and the benefits of partaking in such activities. As a sophomore, I decided to begin branching out and expanding my horizons.
Braces, pimples and waiting for rides from mom after football practice, this is how many student athletes describe their junior high school years. My junior high school experience did not greatly differ from this standard. However, towards the end of my junior high career, I began transition from childhood to adulthood. Specifically, when I made the decision in eighth grade to switch schools and made a personal commitment to play high school football.
1. During my first 2 year of high-school, I was on a fast track to success but everything changed my school tuition dramatically increased from 9500 dollars to 15,000 dollars. Since we lived on income of $47k a year, you could imagine how paying $25,000 on your children’s education (including my sister) would be extremely difficult. However, my parents always believed in granting their children with the best they are capable of giving.
The past three years of my high school experience can only be described as a roller coaster. I remember my first day of high school, sitting in the auditorium and hearing the counselors say "high school is what you make of it, so make it count". I was encouraged to join sports, clubs and extracurricular activities, which I did. I played Volleyball in the fall, ran track in the spring, joined clubs, and marched in the marching band. Even though I was very successful in playing sports, marching band was the most impactful to me.
When I get a full eight hours of sleep my body feels energized and ready to take on the day with no crashes, no disorientation, and no foul mood. Whereas when I get little to no real sleep during the night, or I manage to nap during the day and stay up into the late hours I find myself tired in the morning, easily annoyed, and malicious. I found it interesting that I woke up as often as I do during the night, and also find it interesting that despite the amount of times I do wake up during the night, my body seems to be able to easily fall back into sleep even after I’ve stayed up more than fifteen minutes
