Life has blessed me with many teachers and guiding influences who contributed significantly to the belief and passion that greatly constitute who I am today. Fortunately for me, my parents are the biggest influence in my life. They inculcated in me the mindset to face challenges and do things the right way every time. This upbringing is deeply embedded and a huge part of who I am today; The reason I believe in hard work and integrity in all aspects of my life goals.

Born to African parents who migrated to America, I witnessed my parents work very hard to make ends meet, and to provide a better living for my family. They instilled in me that hard work goes a long way. “You must work hard now to have a better future” they exclaimed. At the time, it seems like my parents were just being harsh by telling me to work hard. I could not fully comprehend this message. Despite some trepidation, I graduated middle school. However, the main shift occurred when I joined the high school football team. Team sport taught me how to create a structured routine. Every week, the team practiced and had study hall. Even more, we will practice even harder during our off season. Our hard work paid off and we secured the championship trophy that year. This has since led me to apply the same concept to my education and in my professional endeavors. In school, I will study ahead of the class. Professionally, I aspire to get better daily. Meaning I am putting in the extra effort in doing things that many coworkers tend to avoid. For example, at my place of work, I often notice co-workers who would gripe about completing various outdoor tasks.
