From my answers to the “Knowing Yourself” survey in College Match, I learned the following:
I am quite eager to attend college and will do well academically. I will adjust well and not feel a lot of social pressure as I can make up my own mind and act independently, which is good, because I seek balance between my social and academic life. I need to relate to my peers both academically and socially. I need fun and humor and a variety of activities available to me outside the classroom. I definitely need to be a big part of the college search process because I need to be excited about the college I attend. I like to be a participant and be engaged in the learning process, so I don’t want a dominance of lectures, but, I also don’t want to be a focus of attention, so a larger school with hands on projects and learning is good for me. I need to be excited about my college. A career focus is good. I have strong academic skills which will make the college environment comfortable. Academics need to be challenging, I need to fit in with other students’ academic abilities. My college needs to be invigorating, but not too stressful; the campus needs to be lively. I need a balanced environment and I can handle it. I need to see where I am heading. I also have a strong need for social consciousness. …show more content…

I found several schools as listed as “top” Institutes in Fiske (Cal Poly SLO, Harvey Mudd) that are not written up, so there is room for exploration, which is good because, while the Technical Institutes sound like they meet my criteria educationally, they don’t look to fit my need for social / life balance. Looking at schools with at least three telephones narrows my list dramatically (all on the east coast), and even then, the male / female ratio is very skewed (too skewed?) and outdoor, athletic activities (east coast sports) are
