Coming from a different culture but still embracing the Christian values that Loma Linda University emphasizes, I believe that my unique background and personal experiences distinguish my application from others. Growing up in Egypt, where the gap between social classes is significant, my parents always stressed the need to prioritize service into my life encouraging me to dedicate time in volunteering and helping others. As a result, my experience has grown from volunteering to serve as a camp leader for orphans in the summer to participating in international dental service trips. These involvements would allow me to use my skills in organizing missions trips at Loma Linda. Being a Coptic Orthodox Christian enables me to add diversity to the
I honestly feel blessed to be able to attend this school and I am glad that my supervisor recommended me to apply. Attending Pacific Oaks College and pursuing a B.A. in Elementary and Special Education fills me with a profound sense of excitement and anticipation. The reputation of Pacific Oaks as a prestigious institution that emphasizes experiential learning and social justice aligns perfectly with my passion for inclusive education. I am thrilled to immerse myself in a supportive and progressive academic environment that values diversity, equity, and the holistic development of each student. The prospect of engaging with faculty who are experts in the field and being part of a close-knit community that shares my dedication to fostering inclusive classrooms fills me with a sense of purpose and
While I was searching for the college I wanted to begin the next part of my life in, I decided I wanted to attend an HBCU that was in a large city. Not only does Howard University fulfill both of these, but Howard also has all of my passions and interests in and outside of the classroom. I am interested in pursuing a Sociology degree within The College of Arts and Sciences. I want to organize my studies with a focus around the black community and urban development. The required and elective courses such as Problems in the Black Community within Howard’s Sociology curriculum will allow me to shape my classes to do this.
Growing up in a Christian household has nurtured my walk with God throughout my life. Since a young age, I have known God as my personal savior, but my faith and trust in Him have grown over the past several years. This past summer, I took part in a worship leader internship program at our church, which provided me with the opportunity to plan and lead worship services. Participating in this program helped me grow closer to God, but it also taught me how to be a leader rather than a follower. As God continues revealing His plan for my life, I feel called to attend Verity and to pursue my passion with a career in law enforcement.
Pancho S. Statement of Intent I want to be in AP Literature and Composition because I think it will prepare me for college. I heard that students who take AP classes in high school graduate college at a much better rate than those who do not take AP courses in high school. This is probably because they are better prepared for the level of work they get in college.
It’s not with every college that one may come across opportunities such as those Westminster offers to its students. After visiting the school and attending a breakout session for the Honors Program, I knew that I had to apply. The program immediately appealed to me for multiple reasons, a couple of these being its challenging nature and uniqueness. In not many other places can students have sit-down conversations with guest speakers and get one-on-one attention from professors. In not many other programs would I have the opportunity to write a graduate level Honors Thesis my senior year.
Throughout my years of attending various colleges, I have never come across a joint degree program that matches Harvard Extension School’s. For many years, I have searched high and low for a cross-cultural liberal arts education that encompasses all aspects of business and collegiate studies. The joint degree presented by Harvard Extension School is an epic innovation to Ivy League academics. It magnificently exemplifies how monumental the options are for professionals in the 21st century.
I have been dedicated to my academic performance and character development to excel in my future profession. After graduating from H. Grady High School, I immediately attended the nearest community college–El Centro College. With uncertainty in selecting a profession, I enrolled in many college courses to determine the appropriate career for me. Through volunteer opportunities and personal responsibilities, I discovered my interest in the complexity of humanity and social issues. This realization confirmed journalism as the ideal academic and professional path.
I have decided to pursue my graduate business degree at the Georgia Institute of Technology because with the thorough selection of courses, team-oriented atmosphere, emphasis on technological innovation and a network of people of consequence, I am assured that I will make a contribution in the field of business administration. A Masters of Business Administration degree at the Georgia Institute of Technology would equip me with the knowledge and expertise required to achieve my goal of creating business model frameworks for infant businesses in Nigeria. Georgia Tech Scheller School of Business’ MBA program provides an unparalleled match with my expectations because of its sense of collaboration and an extensive variety of courses, many of which have an emphasis on business analytics and international consulting. Through knowledge gained in courses such as the International Practicum elective, I will be equipped with knowledge about international business problems thereby creating a better focus for me as I work towards achieving my long-term goals.
Ever since grade school, I was passionate about working in the field of medicine, and science. I enjoyed anatomy, medical spelling and terminology, and reading about the healthcare industry. Because of my passion for healthcare, I decided to to attend Health Sciences High. There, I was given the best opportunities, such as, medical internships and college health courses. My plans and goals had turned me into a mature young adult.
As an Asian American growing up in a small, traditional and homogeneously Caucasian town, I lived a part of my life in which I rejected my Chinese ethnicity. I identified only as American for the sake of being a part of the crowd - running away from the insensitive comments and pressure I felt as I tried to rightfully represent my culture. It was not until much later that I realized that it was these Chinese characteristics that made me different, distinct and unique. Moving half-way across the world to New York University Shanghai was one of the major turning points in my life in which I learned to appreciate the idea of diversity. Rather than stifle a part of who I was, I began to learn how to embrace these challenges and along the way,
As a professional with a strong interest in analyzing ways to improve systems, it is an exciting time to be part of the statistics community while new methods and technology are rapidly advancing to help tackle the difficult challenges we face in the digital era. I am applying to the Statistics Masters program at the University of Illinois because I am interested in further strengthening my data analytics skills across systems and industries---from the organizational level, to understanding consumer behaviors, and developing solutions to problems in efficiency and effectiveness of programs and products. The focus of the program's curriculum aligns with my interests to apply statistical tools such as predictive modeling and statistical learning
Many undergraduate students has recently graduate and cannot obtain a job because the field is too competitive. Company not only looks for people who has the knowledge, experiences, but also for your high education. When two people are being interviewed at the same time with both similar standards, but one has a master degree, and the other has bachelor degree. The person who has a master degree has a higher chance of being hired by the company. The experience of being offered in the integrated BBA/MS program can lead me to the graduate program.
In applying to the graduate program in philosophy, I hope to further my research into the three main areas that I have studied as an undergraduate: moral philosophy, logic and ancient philosophy. My foremost interest lies in moral philosophy, including issues in metaethics, normativity, and constructing moral theories. As an undergraduate I have taken several upper-division courses in moral philosophy; varying in topics from metaethical theory (e.g. practical reason and normativity), Kantian ethics (I am a participant in a graduate seminar in the German department on the formation of Kant’s ethics) and contemporary ethics (including a graduate seminar with [Professor X] last spring). My honours thesis (which is included as my writing sample) focuses on T.M. Scanlon’s contractualist ethics and how it deals with issues such as obligation and retributivism, two other areas I have spent a great deal of time researching.
I am writing this letter to express my interest in pursuing a master’s degree at The University of Massachusetts in Geoscience. The Geoscience program at UMass has been highly recommended by graduate students and geologists from all over the world. My interest for geology started at a relative young age, when I was 12 years old I had the great opportunity to read “The Orphan Tsunami of 1700” by Dr. Brian Atwater. The library at my middle school in Mexico had just bought new American books, this book was recommended to me by the librarian as my interest in geology and the environment were evident since then.
