In chapter six of What the best College Students do by Bain, it talks about how he managed to do interviews on self-compassion. Bain mentioned that want Kristin found in contented people he found in highly productive and creative people. In the people that he interviewed he found that their lives displayed remarkable abilities to comfort themselves, they understand their connections to a much larger community, and they also confront life with honesty. The people that he interviewed were people that rooted themselves in communities rather than in themselves and they found purpose in life within those broader relationships. These people were also able to recognize their own interdependence with the world and the connections that they could build.
Each semester new students come into Blue Ridge Community College to expand their horizons. They take classes, so they will be able to graduate with an Associate’s Degree. One reason people attend Blue Ridge Community College is because they did not do well in high school and hope by attending a community college, they will have a smoother transition to a university, save money and the flexibility of class schedules. Before entering college classes, students take a placement test to determine if they are ready for college classes. Community colleges offer developmental classes in English and Math for students that did not do well on these subjects on the placement test.
In my opinion, Rogue Community College strength is advancement of student learning. As a non-traditional student that lost their job in 2009 due to the economy downturn and chose to return to college to obtain a four-year degree after twenty-nice years. RCC was instrumental in connected me with individuals who helped mentor me through my transition from RCC to SOU. Many of my RCC instructors took extra time to answer questions after class and displayed such commitment and respect to all their students.

As cliché as it may sound, the simplest of phrases always have the most significance impact in someone’s day. It is not what, and how you say it what matters, but the why you say it. Even a simple “Hello,” “Hey,” and “What is up?” is enough to make a student’s day more motivated. Because students interact this way with each other, they know that they are not alone in the journey of college. Even the name of the dining hall has power on students, just imagine eating on a dining hall named after a successful CEO, Craig Barrett, who worked for Intel.
As a First Generation college student, I necessitate not only one trait to succeed but two, those of which are: ambition and faith. Being ambitious and faithful is what I necessitate and assists me to succeed. Being ambitious is what has led me to where I am today and where it will lead me in the future, it has assisted me in wanting to obtain a higher education and become an attorney. I have the belief that being ambitious will assist you in getting closer to your goal and achieving it. I demonstrate my ambitiousness by taking courses that will help me for when I attend law school as well as practicing for the Law School Admissions Test also known as LSAT at an early time.
There are several qualities and characteristics that I possess which I believe are the reasons why I know I will succeed in college. I am the oldest in my family, so I have always been the one who is responsible for everything in my family. From taking care of my parents and siblings to fixing stuff in the home, so we can save up some money.
