Throughout this time in ENWR 100 i’ve learned that college writing has a lot of different components. You must understand your central claim before you write your essay. There is always much room for improvement in writing. I never thought I would be able to even adjusting to writing a five page paper. I realized at the college level you must prepare and take your time with your essays. I noticed one of the biggest parts of a essay is to make sure you’re making a connection with the reader. Transitions from high school writing to college writing can be one overwhelming challenges you will eventually face. Although I have not done as well as I could, i’m starting to recognize my strengths and weaknesses, which will only make me a stronger writer as I progress. Honestly the longest essay I wrote was only two pages long. I know, I was never challenged to my full ability. My teachers never really even focused on writing, my classes were more focused on literature. My senior year, I only wrote five essays throughout the entire year. Then I questioned myself, how am I going to do well in writing at the college level. Of Course college expectations are higher than high school, so I tended to be scared of beginning to write at that level. I was worried because what if I wasn’t able to meet the average standards and requirements of writing for this class. But i’m constantly told that if I apply myself, I will be successful in every class. As of now I believe that, before I really didn’t pay attention to what people said.
