Communism. A word that will send Americans running for the hills. We are constantly told how communism as much as a good idea that is, will never work. Constant arguments on how people suffer under communism, the purges, the gulags, and the state control. However communism is still a very respectable economical and political system, the idea of treating the people fairly and equally. The acceptance of a truly equal society, virtually no unemployment, healthcare, and education, these are the things Karl Marx visualized after writing The Communist Manifesto. The reason? Lenin stated that the only way to achieve true and pure communism, was to go through a transitional phase of socialism. So far, no state has achieved a Communist government as of this day. With that in mind, how can you say something does not work, if it has never been tested? Once considered, this economic and political government has loads of advantages, most notably, lifting people out of poverty. With a basic income as well as employment for all, this policy would lift people out of poverty and promote the working class instead of brushing them away and focusing on the 1%. The difference between this and a say welfare program is, in communism there is no tax to pay, therefore not punishing lower class people for working more. Another reason why communism can work in a modern society is due to the fact that there is an already internally stable economic system. Since the government controls the economic structure of the state, economic stability is non-existent. Everyone gets a decent salary, so everyone is rich. Everyone can afford what they wants.
