I believe that being involved in a community is extremely important, that is why I tried to stay involved as much as possible. Although I feel like I could have been involved more than I was, I still believe that I made an impact on my community and helped out where I could. I was told that a little goes a long was and any effort helps, so I am proud of the volunteering I did for my community in that past three years. I come from Reinbeck, a small town in Iowa, where everyone here is very proud of the community we live in. All ages are helping out to make this a safe and fun environment to be apart of. In the past, our school took a few hours and went to the community park to clean up. We had to pick up sticks and any trash we saw along the way. We repainted play sets to make them look like new again. I, being a kid lover, was very happy and pleased to be doing this for them. I enjoyed doing this because I not only got to help out the community, but it was also for those who died fighting for us all. It was an honor to be able to be apart of that and it meant a lot to the citizens of Reinbeck. I was involved in other little things here and there like working our school concession or helping out at Fourth of July events. The best volunteer experience was setting up a 5K with my friends to raise money for a classmate fighting cancer. It took a lot of work, but it was all for a great cause and was worth every second. The entire community joined together and came to support our classmate and this event. We ended up raising a great amount of money for our classmate, Noah. Seeing the smiles on his and his parent’s faces and seeing how appreciative they were was rewarding
