Coffee and energy drinks are a superior choice if you are tired or worn out and need a boost of energy, but do you know what it's really doing to your body? First of all coffee has a much larger amount of caffeine. Due to these levels of caffeine it rises the heart rate, if working out after drinking coffee the heart could become strained because it feels as if it had already been worked out. This leaves energy drinks as a more ideal choice before a sporting event. In the video it states that energy drinks contain vitamins and minerals, although these may be good for your health they don’t help with the energy spike. This will then call for you insulin to kick in using up most of the available sugar in your body leaving you with little benefit. Coffee on the other hand has less added sugar allowing for a more useful energy boost. Last of all the milk in coffee takes longer to digest, so if exercising powerfully you are in risk of feeling nauseous.
