Every single person on this planet has a dream. A dream can be holding a career, for example becoming an engineer, a lawyer, or missionary to countries like Peru. A dream has more meaning when it is fulfilled. Steve Harvey and Whoopi Goldberg are two examples of people that had a dream. They are entertainers and authors who are enjoying the great fulfillment of their dreams after overcoming poverty and disappointment during their early days.
Steve and Whoopi are well-known entertainers and authors who were raised in a family of poverty. Whoopi's father left their family at a young age. Her mother took care of her and her sibling in a housing project in Manhattan. Her mother worked as a teacher and nurse to support her children. As a high school dropout, Whoopi worked as a mortuary beautician as she pursued her dream in show business. Unlike Whoopi, Steve’s parents were both in his life until his early 40’s. He graduated high school and attended college. Along the way, Steve’s parents helped him, even though they were not the richest people in the world, they were with him financially until college. Steve’s life was very hard because he was homeless for an extended period at the beginning of his career. Whoopi’s life was not as hard, especially for being a high school dropout; she was able to live life easier. Whoopi already starred in her first movie called, “Jumpin’ Jack Flash,” known as a spy comedy movie made in 1986. A year after Steve's first act, which was October 8, 1984, at a comedy club in Cleveland, Ohio, Whoopi was still ahead of him on the celebrity chain.
