Bethesda, Maryland is the headquarters for this large cooperation that employs approximately 112,000 people worldwide (Lockheed Martin Corporation, 2015). Lockheed Martin as the corporation exists today was not always the case.
Lockheed Martin is an American aerospace and defense company that has played a significant role in the history of aviation and space exploration. Founded in 1995, the company has its roots in the early days of aviation and has since evolved into one of the world's largest and most diversified defense contractors. This paper provides an in-depth overview of the company, including its history, founders, offerings, unique selling propositions, and the four P's of marketing. Lockheed Martin Corporation was established in 1995 as a result of the merger of Lockheed Corporation and Martin Marietta. Lockheed Corporation was founded in 1912 by Allan Loughead and his brother Malcolm.
A mission statement describes the company’s reason for existence and “answers the pivotal question, what is our business.” It is essential the mission statement is clear and communicated throughout the organization so employees can effectively formulate strategies and achieve goals. I chose Transcat, the company I am currently employed with, for this assignment. Transcat does not have a mission statement, but has a company credo statement that fulfils a majority of the mission statement components. The advantage that Lockheed Martin gained by using virtual teams is that they were bale to use the knowledge skills and abilities of individuals no matter if they were in New York or California. The problems that faced by Lockheed Martin using virtual teams are likely the same many computer based or virtual companies face. I know that when I send an email or other electronic messages they sometimes does not come across correctly perhaps even rude. While not intentional the context or tone of emails and other electronic messages is sometimes hard to ascertain. Also another issue the company likely faced was working with employees that were located in different time zones.

Conclusion: By using the Appreciative inquiry process, we developed a mission statement, vision statement, and values for our imaginary business. The mission statement highlights our purpose and scope, while the vision statements inspires an innovative and sustainable future. The values statement defines the principles that drive our decisions and actions.
As an organization, we need to identify and properly map out our vision, mission, and values. The values are created from the beliefs and attitudes from within the organization.
