A syllabus outlines everything a student should, and or needs know about a class they plan on taking. Ms. Spearman, one of the instructors for English 1102, devises a syllabus that explains what enrolled students should expect and are expected of in her class. She provides basic information for the class, explains what her students should gain by the end of the course, and what is expected of them while they are in her class. In producing a syllabus, Ms. Spearman provides her students with all the tools and knowledge to be successful in her class.
For example, there is a 1000 level, and a student must take a class in the 1100-1600 sections. Saint Vincent College allows our sense of wonder to take part in our education by listing numerous courses in each section. I am taking a 1500 core class right now. I had the option to choose from a class about animation before Disney or the history of American theatre. Because an objective is the foundation upon which to build the lesson and assessments that prove the overall course outcome. Stating a clear objective is important because they give you a solid foundation for designing relevant instructional materials. When you develop a learning object, a lesson or a learning activity, you have to define what you want the students to learn and how you will know that they learned. This course will show videos on just about everything when it comes to being a better college student. I have learned about reading and writing strategies also. Watching the videos provided on Blackboard helped me because I am mainly a visual learner, for all you visual learners out there these videos will help you too.
