Many were developed while others were not mentioned in the movie compared to the book. In addition, the prominent character Irene, is pivotal in the plot of the movie compared to the book. Irene is a beautiful pregnant woman who goes against Isidoro Gomez interrogating him about the crimes in this case.
Is your America the same as my America? The book titled Our America was published by LeAlan Jones, Lloyd Newman and David Isay in 1997. There is also a movie called Our America Which was made by Ernest Dickerson in 2002. Both the book and the movie is about the same thing, it’s about how people on the west side of Chicago live. The book and the movie version of Our America have many differences such as David Isay is a very important person in the movie but he isn't in the book, Lloyd and LeAlan fusses a lot, and in the movie they talk about how they got bad publicity for being two black boys being punked by a white man but they don't even talk about that in the book.
Our America is a book and a movie of the struggle in the Southside of Chicago. Even though, the main plot of the book and the movie was how two characters named Lealan and Lloyd find a way to broadcast their struggles in living in the Southside of Chicago. But, both the book and the movie have the main plot of Eric Morse’s death. Which happened in 1994, two boys Johnny and Tyrone threw a 5 year old boy named Eric out the window because they wanted him to steal candy and he didn’t and so Eric snitched on them. During the first semester, English 2 Honors has read two books: Lord Of the Flies and All Quiet on the Western Front. Throughout both of these novels, many ideas were taught, some which were similar and others which were different. Now even though there is a time gap between the book written by Golding and the book written by Remarque, the similarities and differences are still very noticeable. A similarity would be the main topic of each book: the war currently taking place during that time period. The differences would include the setting/time period of the book and the themes present in each novel.
When Martians attack, what will humans most likely do or what will these Martians act like? How will they attack? Will humans even survive? The authors of “Zero Hour” and War of the Worlds-- Ray Bradbury and H.G. Wells-- have shown their own versions, or scenarios of how they think Martian invasions will go down. Both stories contain characters that try to survive.
There are numerous of contrasts and comparisons that is throughout the stories “Zero Hour” and The War of the Worlds. Both stories’ events and characters are vaguely similar, but also somewhat different. The two stories slightly have the same effect but the characters tend to take care of the situations uniquely. In “Zero Hour” the character Mink was practically mesmerised by Martians just so that can take over Earth.
In the beginning, the characters’ ages is a big difference. For example, Jonas was originally 12 years old in the book but in the movie he is 19 years old. Another difference was the jobs. The book had stated that Fiona was working at the House of Old and Asher was Assistant of Director of Recreation.
Tomorrow When the War Began is a novel by Australian Author John Marsden. Published in 1993, it tells the story of a group of seven teenagers led by the main character Ellie, who narrates the events that happen in the novel. The group goes to a place called Hell to camp and when they come back their lives are changed forever, their homes and town are abandoned and they soon discover they are at war. They struggle to fight for survival and to save their friends and family as the twisted morality of war strain their relationships and test their loyalty.
Both texts contain an incident where someone must go outside of his/her comfort zone. In Tomorrow When the War Began this is shown with Fiona as she was shown as ‘princess’ like character meaning she is unfamiliar with basic survival skills and is uncomfortable with being out in the wild and having to work for a lot of simple things such as having food to eat. This is tested multiple times throughout the film as they originally are out camping on the trip for fun but it is also tested later on when they are required to live out in the forest to hide from the enemy soldiers. In The Hunger Games Foxface is an example of a similar character who is required to go outside their comfort zone.
Reading log 3 Novel Tomorrow When The War Began John Marsden Tomorrow when the war began is a fictional novel written by an Australian author John Marsden. Whilst it touches on many different subjects I think the overall main idea is change. This is shown through the development of the characters and their relationships during their fight for freedom and survival during World War Three. Change is something that affects everyone so it's very easy for the reader to relate to. I personally really enjoyed reading this book because the targeted audience are teenagers since it’s a story of a group of teenagers being the heroes.

Books vs. Movies The constant battle between watching a movie and reading a book has lead to many disagreements. Many valid arguments can be made in favor of each as well as each having it’s own disadvantages, yet the question still remains unanswered. Books and movies have many similarities and differences when it comes to experience, development, and imagery. To begin, there are a variety of reasons that make movies not as good as books. The experience, the depth, and the imagery are the three main aspects one needs in order to understand why movies are not as good as books.
