If I could spend the day with two people, whether live or dead, I would have chosen Michael Jordan and Martin Luther King JR. The reason I choose Michael Jordan because he is universally known as the greatest basketball player of all time. He did not get this title because he was extremely talented rather his work ethic separated him from others. Jordan had perseverance like no other. He pushed his teammates, so he could see them at their best. ‘’Some people want it to happen, some people wish it would happen, others make it happen.’’ This quote from Jordan is just a sentence but it represents his attitude towards life. When Jordan was at his best, he still faced adversity. His father was killed. This changed Jordan’s life and he took a break in from the NBA, but 2 years later he came back to win 3 straight NBA championships. Jordan is easily one of the most influential people of all time. King was a civil rights activist. For a long period of time African Americans were being treated unfairly. They didn’t have as many rights as others. Despite being oppressed King was able to protest peacefully. His protests were very effective. He is a big reason that there is racial equality in America today. He led several boycotts including the Montgomery bus boycott. King was the first president of the SCLC, and won a Nobel peace prize. He did this in only 39 years. King is no longer alive, but his ideas and his beliefs are. I would spend the day reviewing his life. I wasn’t alive when King was, so I would try to put myself in his shoes. I would ask him how he was able to be so peaceful when people had so much hate towards him.
