Comparing Christian Feudalism And Islamic Caliphate

Christian Feudalism was a system that was based off of the land that people were tied and could move to. There were hierarchy classes that would impact your rights and responsibilities. These hierarchies are evident in both systems. A difference that Islamic Caliphate had from Christian Feudalism was that it was based off of trade and not land. The system that had better definition, rights, and responsibilities was the Christian system of Feudalism.

Citizenship in Feudalism was having rights and responsibilities. Every person, no matter what class was in charge of things and gave things in return. If they were in the Feudal system, they might be in the rank 2 with lords, nobles, or barons. This change in rankings makes Christian Feudalism better in definition. Not only is Caliphate not as superior in definition, they were not as good in rights as in Feudalism. The rights in Feudalism was based on the classes that people were in. While in Islamic Caliphate, peoples’ rights were based on their classes as well. But, people in Feudalism had more rights and were allowed to do more things than in Caliphate. Even though Islamic Caliphate allowed people to move to other muslim lands, people were able to do most anything they wanted to do in Feudal Europe. Sometimes peasants had to get permission to do things like marry, but they were usually able to do a lot of things. An example of the more rights people could get would be between women in Caliphate and female serfs in Feudalism. Women in Feudal times were able to help with the work and didn’t have to stay at home all of the time and take care of kids. But, Caliphate women just had the right to take care of the kids and do household chores. Finally, Feudalism also possessed people having more fair and better responsibilities.
