As examined throughout history, both Greek and Roman civilizations had unique ideas of architecture and government. This includes their use of domes and arches within their buildings to make them feel important or particularly large. They would also build the most important buildings within their society higher up on top of hills used again to show off its high level of importance. The Greeks would build their most important buildings, such as their temples, on the highest of hills to showcase their high importance. This has been seen today’s society with buildings such as courthouses or churches today being built on top of hills. Showing off what the nation believes to be most important. Today many see, especially within American culture, the use of social classes just like those seen within Rome. Those such as the higher, middle, and lower class. Their husbands controlled them and they were given virtually no rights. This was seen throughout early American history as well, however, just like in Greece and Rome, times changed. In Greece and Rome women became more accepted and treated more as individuals. In Athens, Greece women weren’t allowed to vote, but in Rome women were eventually granted the ability to divorce their husbands. In the Americas women were early on treated with little to no respect. Having virtually no rights within society a common trait during this time that could have been taken from Rome or Greece.
