Shakespeare is a celebrated poet and playwright. Two of his most famous plays and tragedies include “Othello” and “Romeo and Juliet”. “Othello” is about a man named Iago, who was bitter about not being chosen as lieutenant, and decided to take revenge. “Romeo and Juliet” was about two lovers whose families hated each other making the young lovers feel they must hide their love. I feel that although very similar, these plays also share many differences. “Romeo and Juliet” is notorious for it’s love story, often used as an allusion. “Othello” also has love involved as well. Both of the loves ended in death, with both of them killing themselves or getting killed. In both, the death was due to miscommunication. However, in “Othello”, Othello killed his wife, Desdemona, due to a lie that made him distrust her. After seeing what he had done, he killed himself. In “Romeo and Juliet”, Romeo thought Juliet to be dead, so he killed himself. After Juliet Awoke, she saw his body and killed herself as well. …show more content…

In both “Othello” and “Romeo and Juliet” alike, this is a large issue. In “Othello”, the bitter Iago decided that he would seek revenge on both Cassio and Othello. Iago set up an elaborate plan, Including a setup which made Desdemona look unfaithful. In “Romeo and Juliet”, Romeo and Juliet must hide their love, which obviously would include lying. For example, the largest line would be the fact that she faked her death. The main difference between the two is their intentions. In “Othello”, the lies were only made to harm others. In “Romeo and Juliet”, the lies were only made for the sake of love. Both of the lies ended in death, which makes the purpose irrelevant in the long
