Imagine someone comes up to you and says Rap & Hip Hop are the same thing? Me personally, I would literally write a paper about the differences between the two. Oh wait… that’s besides the point, the point is, Rap is way different than hip hop. Hip hop has four elements, one which is similar with rap. One of which rap and hip hop share is DJing. When you go on youtube or google and watch the lyrics, you can see what those lyrics mean. Rap mostly tells a story in the lyrics, such as Eminem and his songs. They mostly contain stories in them. His song “Mockingbird” tells the story of his little girl named Hailie and how he misses her and he states in the song that he will always be there. But in Hip-hop, they are not going for an emotional pull. They are hooking their listeners in with a good beat. Which I can’t blame them, a good beat is what makes the song the best ever.
