A fight breaks out in Verona, between the servants of Capulet and Montague. Prince Escalus, the ruler of Verona, attempts to prevent any further conflicts between the families by decreeing death for any individual who disturbs the peace in the future.Romeo, the son of Montague, runs into his cousin Benvolio, who had seen Romeo moping in a grove of sycamores. Romeo confides that he is in love with Rosaline, a woman who doesn’t return his affections. Benvolio tells Romeo to forget about her and find another woman, someone more beautiful. Paris, a kinsman of the Prince, seeks Juliet’s hand in marriage, Capulet asks him to wait two years since she wasn’t even fourteen. Capulet wants Paris to win over Juliet’s heart at a Masquerade feast. The feast begins and Romeo sees Juliet from across the room and instantly falls in love with her. Romeo and Juliet kiss that night without even knowing each other’s names, when they find out they’re their parents enemies they become upset. Romeo couldn’t leave so he hid and they finally came out of his hiding spot and called out to Juliet and they exchanged vows of love. Romeo talks to his friend Friar Lawrence and he agreed to marry the young lovers. The next day, Benvolio and Mercutio encounter Tybalt. They challenge Romeo to a duel but he begs to hold it off and Mercutio says that he will fight Tybalt, they began to duel and Romeo tries to stop them.
