I think the movie version is better than the book. The reason for this is because the movie has a lot more character than the book does. You get to see what the characters look like, while the book doesn’t give a good description of the people in the book at all. You can feel the mood better in the movie because of all of the extra things, like the lightning and fog, to capture the mood. Some similarities I found in both the movie and the book is that Scrooge says, “Bah! Hummbug.”.
A Christmas Carol is a novella and film by Charles Dickens. It narrates a fictional story of a man named Ebenezer Scrooge who is visited by the ghosts of Christmas past, present, and future in order to convince him to change his poor outlook on life and his greed. The themes of A Christmas Carol overlap with Gospel teachings, such as the dangers of greed and how the poor should be treated with generosity. The theme of greed is represented in A Christmas Carol through the main character, Scrooge.
The theme of the supernatural is a big part to the story of A Christmas Carol and therefore is always reoccurring in many variations mostly in the form of ghosts or spirits coming to communicate with the protagonist, Ebenezer Scrooge. The theme of the supernatural is important as during the 19th century, religion was a principle factor in the lives of most people and the topic of ghosts, ghouls and spirits was generally frowned upon so this creates a significant impact on the reader. During the 1st Stave of A Christmas Carol, it is explained to the reader that the door knocker at the front door to his house has morphed to resemble the face of his former business partner, Jacob Marley. This is an important occurrence of the theme of supernatural as it is told to the reader at the very beginning of the novella that “Marley was dead”. This instils to reader the possibility of Scrooge hallucinating.
Once upon a time, a man called Ebenezer Scrooge that was paying the mortician to bury Marley but he was disagreeing because he didn’t want to give tip to the man that helped him to the mortician of Marley. 7 years pass and Scrooge is in his office and his nephew Fred visits him and said to him merry Christmas and he was angry since he didn’t like Christmas, after a large day Scrooge goes home and when he was already home the ghost of his friend of business, Marley, Scrooge was scared, since Marley has a lot of chains and Marley tells him that the chains were all over him because of all the bad acts that he been doing during all of the time, and since has that chains he has been suffering all time. Marley also tell him that he will be visited by 3 spirits. Then when Scrooge was going to bed, the ghost of Christmas

The 1971 film adaption of a christmas carol is a shortened version of the movie without some of the key scenes that make the book so influential. While it does retain most of the most important scenes it lacks the important dialogue and intense imagery that the book portrayed in most parts. In the beginning when he is visited in the movie by Bob Marley he tells the scrooge that the ghosts will come on three different nights which doesn't happen but is a very noticeable difference from the book. The movie shows the ghost of Christmas Past as a small feminine figure which contrasts greatly from the book.

The Ghost of Christmas Present is wearing a large green robe, very tall and mighty figure, and wears a beard. The Ghost of Christmas Future is black, frightening, and has bony fingers.
The book Christmas Carol is somewhat comparable to the story of How the Grinch stole Christmas by Dr. Seuss. The main characters of both stories never got a spirit of Christmas. Both never liked Christmas. Both also possess bad characters and are cold-hearted. The only difference between the two, besides that Mr. Scrooge is human and The Grinch is, well, one of the citizens of Whoville (I am not sure if they are human or something), The Grinch wanted to ruin Christmas intentionally that he made lots of effort to succeed in his plans while Mr. Scrooge, well, just hated Christmas.

A Christmas Carol Once upon a time there was an old, mean, and greedy man by the name Ebenezer Scrooge, and his creator was Charles Dickens who wrote the novel A Christmas Carol. Tom Hass wrote A Christmas Carol play that we read in class. Israel Horvitz wrote a version that was performed at the IRT. In both versions of A Christmas Carol there were a lot of similarities and differences. The book and play both have similarities.
One is a play and the other is a short film. Both versions are very similar and different at the same time. Let´s start analyzing the characters. Like it is supposed, Scrooge is the principal character.
A Christmas Carol Characterization In A Christmas Carol Charles Dickens describes his main character Ebenezer Scrooge in a direct characterization manner . Dickens begins to describe him directly to the audience as; “..secret, and self-contained, and solitary as an oyster.” and also describes him as: “...a squeezing, wrenching, grasping, scraping, clutching, covetous, old sinner!” and lastly describes him as “... a tight-fisted hand at the grindstone, Scrooge!” in page 8. Here Dickens introduces a greedy, self contained and penny-pinching character.
