Have you ever seen a company or person that was small at first but then developed over time to become a successful business or person? Ask yourself, how does this one person stay with this one company for so long, even with their hardships, it's called grit. Grit is the courage and resolve of your strength that pertains to your personal character. How far would you go to resolve a problem? That is passion and perseverance for long-term goals.
Hanford’s article also provides the example of the spelling bee, “In a study we found of finalist in the spelling bee, we found that grittier children completed more hours of deliberate practice [Pg. 52]”. Connecting Duckworth and Hanford’s article they both use the spelling bee to provide an example to understand the true definition of grit. In the article “Mindset,” by Carol Dweck, Dweck provides a definition and example of two mindsets. She focuses on having a growth mindset, since most people that obtain a growth mindset are most likely to be more successful in life.
Grit and Growth Mindsets both work together to support success. Grit and Growth Mindsets are both positive things and if you don’t have either of those two things you will not be successful. According to Angela Lee Duckworth and Lauren Eskreis-Winkler, “Grit, however, is distinguished from the general tendency to be reliable, self-controlled, orderly, and industrious, with its emphasis on long-term stamina rather than short-term intensity.” (p.51.) Duckworth and Eskreis-Winkler are saying that Grit is, having the ability to always be able to do something and to do it right way and to work very hard on it and to sustain it rather than not giving your all to it.
The Greatness in Grit There are many important human traits but I am only going to be talking about one that one trait is grit. Grit is a strong trait that some people have and other people don’t it is not something that can be taught it is something that must always be there and most people have some amount of grit big or small it always makes a difference in their character and their integrity. Grit is strength and courage it is the ability to stand up to a bully or stand up for your beliefs or the beliefs of other people and the ability to keep going when everyone else gives up It is the ability to go past your comfort zone and to stop being mediocre or normal and to never give up and to push past the breaking point even when it feels
Grit has five important characteristics that help to develop and to fight against the soft growth. For someone to fight it, as human we should be able to have the five characteristics of Grit such as Courage, Conscientiousness: Achievement Oriented vs.Dependable , Long- Term Goals and Endurance: Follow Through, Resilience: Optimism ,Confidence, and Creativity, Excellence vs Perfection. Each of those key points are important facts about Grit in our life and it also describes each of them as keys of success.
The main characteristics of a Mindset is when people think that their simple qualities can be easily cultivated through their effort, which was said by Maria Popova. Ways that a growth mindset could be helpful to success is that while developing at the same time you're learning, so while you learn more you create a better mindset, which is the reason why it can become very helpful. According to Angela DuckWorth what it means to be Gritty is to be courageously persistent. And having strong qualities of tough uncompromising realism. The way Grit can help people with a growth mindset overcome obstacles is, they could have a long term goal in mind and would need grit to help them achieve their long term goal.
Grit is sticking with your future, day in and day out, not just for the week, not just for the month, but for years” (Duckworth). This quote explains what grit is. Grit is the determination you have to complete a goal that you have had for a long time. Grit is knowing what you want your future to be so you work hard to get there. Grit is simply living out your dreams.
Academic research paper, a form of formal paper, usually is used by scholars and researchers to report their research projects and to explain their finding in a certain field. On the contrary, the popular essay in academic field often introduces a research and the research paper with it. Those two forms of paper have many difference between each other, even when they discuss same topics to similar audiences. For example, both Hanford`s essay of “How Important is Grit in Student Achievement” and Duckworth`s essay of “Grit: Perseverance and Passion for Long-Term Goals”, are writing about grit`s value in students` achievement. Even thought they are presenting same topic, similar evidence and reasoning, the essays have different organization, credibility

Grit is a personal trait gained through situations during life that a person overcame. The advantages of being greedy are that you're strong and courageous and two you can get past anything because you through it already. The growth mindset, as well as great, is always adapting and being able to overcome obstacles and learn from them. The advantages of having a growth mindset are gaining your traits through experience and being ready and prepared for any tough situations in the future. In Grit: The Power of Passion and Perseverance author Angela Duckworth highlights two essential concepts. One proposal introduced is purpose and how our individual actions affect the well-being of others. The intention of our actions and efforts is to reach a special end goal, which always pays dividends to others. The passion is so imperative to you personally, it motivates and drives you to pursue and explore its significance. The key to purpose starts with a spark, then by observing someone who is purposeful, and finally discovering a problem that needs solving.
Desdemona utilized a growth mindset when she tried her best to convince Othello she was loyal and also that Cassio was an innocent man deserving of his position. Emilia used her grit when she risked her life to defend Desdemona. Ironically, grit can be compared to having a fixed mindset, which is the belief that your qualities are “carved in stone”, because grit requires you to be stubborn in achieving success. Someone with a fixed mindset is also stubborn in the way they present themselves to people.
The Influence of Grit and Growth Mindset in one’s life In Eduardo Briceno’s view “The key to success is not simply effort, focus, or resilience, it is the growth mindset that creates them.” Grit is the quality that enables individuals to work hard enough and stick to their long-term passions and goals. Growth mindset is the intelligence that can be developed and the ability to accept debacle. Two special features that will help one achieve in academics, personal life, and career are grit and growth mindset.
Grit is living life like it's a marathon, not a sprint” (Duckworth). By that, Duckworth means that you have to work day to day without giving up on your future goals you have to keep going until you reach your goals you cannot achieve fast but you have to keep working hard. Also there are counter examples for using grit too much and by that preventing us from achieving a different goal, there are only a few cases where that happened but it did and it means it could happen to anyone. I could use myself as an example, from Hungary in the middle of Europe I achieved to come to the US and go to school here while I can still play water polo, this was my goal but since I reached it now I have a higher goal to achieve to get in a four year university. You have to put your goals high enough so you can fight for them it’s not going to be easy but you cannot give up on your dreams you have to work until you get there it will take a lot of sacrifice but at the end you can say “I did it” and that is how grit
A growth mindset is when people appreciate a challenge, they don’t mind failing. The person would rather fail and learn from their mistake then keep
