Working in groups and teams will happen at some point in an individual's’ life. Equally important belonging to a group can be a wide range for example committees, family, sports groups, social groups and even religious groups. Teams and groups are very similar however a group outside of a team is attainable. On the other hand a team is not achievable without a group. The comprehensive assessment of team member effectiveness, is a test instructors often used when using teamwork in class mostly common in management education.
The assessment has five key categories contributing to the team’s work, interacting with teammates, keeping the team on track, expecting quality, and having relevant knowledge, skills and abilities. The five categories are …show more content…

This ensure that teammates will stay informed and understand each other. Provides encouragement towards team members and ask teammates for feedback. I received a 4.3 in the interacting with teammates portion on the assessment of team member effectiveness this is means I can show both positive and negative teamwork behavior for example when working in teams I can become interrupts, ignores or even bossy. I believe as an individual I’m more likely to take the positive role. Asking for and showing interest in my teammate’s idea’s and contributions is the role I would prefer to take. My highest score was in having related knowledge, skills and abilities. I received a five meaning demonstrating the knowledge, skills and abilities to do excellent work which is one of my strengths. Social loafing is a negative effect of groups it is the tendency for an individual to exert less effort towards a goal presented. Social loafing happens quite often in many different situations. Individuals often feel that their contributions won’t benefit the group, and therefore, they show less work and contributions. The free-rider effect is one of the two common reason of social loafing. The free-rider effect is the tendency of individual to reduce work due to the belief that is won’t affect the group’s final grade on an assignment. The second common known reason is the known as the sucker effect, the sucker effect is trying to avoid doing all the work so the individual waits before he or she does work to see how much work group member will put forth to avoid the
