Providing employees with the opportunity to better their skills and improve themselves is a role of Human Resources. Training not only develops employees but helps in retaining, developing, and rewarding employees. Training does have an effect on productivity, safety, and development, employee development can change an organization, and its employees just by using planned and unplanned training. CBT is becoming extremely popular in the business sector because it can offer quick, yet intense training in important applications (Learn Source). This involves the employee sitting at a computer, and going through a set of modules or program that has already been designed, instead of an on-site training, and it gives them the ability to do it as needed or management feels it is needed. Computer-based training is becoming increasingly prevalent as technology becomes more widespread and easy to use. These programs are similar to print based modules with the addition of interactive features. Training games are a CBT method that is often a fun way to learn. This technique is designed to be motivating and entertaining, making learning fun. It is like any computer game but with an educational slant to it, such as a word game where you have to create different words from only the provided letters. Another computer based method is simulations which help you practice real world situations. Typically, simulations are used when actually practicing out in the real world would be too costly, dangerous or otherwise impractical. A simulation could help you learn to fly a plane, for example (HR Management, 2013). CBT is a flexible and cost-effective option. Other advantages to Computer based training are that is a self-paced program allows for master comprehension of the material because there is not a time constraint.
