An investigation on how Pablo Picasso’s artworks of multi-media, subject matter and medium, and Michelangelo’s sculpture “Brutus” and the History of Origami influenced my drawings, sculptures and makings of origami pieces.

While planning and researching ideas for my art project: ordinary / Extraordinary, I found some artists and their artworks …show more content…

I had to ensure that I gave her justice; I needed to complete this project in the best way possible, and in order to do so, I needed to do some research.
My initial idea started with wanting to draw portraits of people; I have always been interested in that section wherein you discover how different each face is. I furthered my idea and decided I wanted to make it more personal. I would achieve this task by making all my artworks based on my sister, Megan. However, I wanted the work to be a bit different, and not the traditional drawings only sketched in pencil.

For example, one of my pieces has been drawn in black fineliner and is composed of a whole lot of lines that create the contours and the shape. While this is not some Picasso work, I used mediums that are not usually the first medium one would think to use.
I did not want the whole project to be made solely of drawings. I thought of interesting ways to imitate growth- as that is the basis of my project. Flowers are a big symbol of growth and beauty and I wanted to use that symbol somewhere in my artwork as a whole. I decided on showing the growth of flowers to symbolise how, just as the flower grows, so does a person. Therefore, I looked up the history of origami to see where it originated and how to create flowers (and other shapes) out of
