onflict is a common phenomenon in nursing and is defined as a disagreement or argument within oneself or between groups that varies ¬in beliefs, attitudes, values or needs (Yoder-Wise, 2014). Clashes in the workplace are common and would emerge when there is the misunderstanding among two or more people when they are contributing to the same work activities but having different objectives to achieve (Yadav, Lim, Hashim & Saad, 2011). Conflict is a multidimensional construct and can be categorised into three different types, which are intergroup, interpersonal and intrapersonal (Clark, 2009).
The conflict that I will be discussing on will be under interpersonal conflict. Interpersonal conflict is when there are two or more people with opinions and priority differed from each other (Rigolosi, 2005).

When I do not speak up for my action, I felt inferiority by the duo as the nurse would be grading me for my posting for the rest of the weeks.
In this case, initially, I chose avoidance and accommodating approach in handling the situation. Avoidance approach will allow me to stay away from further disagreement which might affect the relationship between the nurse and me. It might also hinder our teamwork process if the issue is being pursued. But when an issue is avoided, it will remain unsolved. If a similar situation were to re-emerge, the emotion of both parties might escalate to an even difficult situation to handle and resolve (Sullivan & Decker, 2009).
In the next few days, I tried using accommodating approach, hoping to make the whole situation more peaceful and easier to handle. But it is a win-lose situation as our conflict is not resolved and I have to limit my practice in ensuring my patient’s safety whenever I am on the same roster as her. But the practice is of high value to me. Thus it is not an appropriate strategy for me to apply in this situation (Marquis & Huston,
