Have you ever wondered whether the Senate or House of Representatives has more power? Well, although the House has the power to impeach the president, the Senate is full of older and wiser men whom also have great responsibilities. The House may be more powerful within certain functions, but the Senate has many strengths within certain powers as well. Our congress is an important aspect of our nation, with many responsibilities that causes us to be a more organized country. The three major functions of the United States Congress are lawmaking, oversight and constituent service. Lawmaking is congress’ primary job; they create laws to help solve national issues at hand. These functions are representation, public-education and conflict resolution. Representation is the function where congressmen represent either the people as a whole, or they represent a certain political party. This function is important, but not vital because congressmen represent their views in the lawmaking and constituent service functions. Next, we have the public-education function, which is where congress discuss and make the public aware of issues that require greater attention. Once again, this function is important, but with social media, the public does have access to the news that they need to be aware of; although the government decides what information should be released. Lastly, we have the conflict resolution functions, where congress discusses and attempts to resolve certain issues within our nation. With the lawmaking function, congress does discuss issues and make laws to resolve them, so this function is already somewhat being used within that
