The feud between the Capulets and the Montagues has been an issue for years. The Capulets and the Motagues have had their ongoing feud for years but due to this brawl, but it ends up costing them their children’s lives.The most significant factor which leads to Romeo and Juliet’s deaths is the ongoing feud between the Montagues and the Capulets which is shown when Tybalt and Marcutio have the first duel, the death of Tybalt at the hands of Romeo, and the inner conflict of Juliet helps to develop the theme that love does not always win within Shakespeare’s “Romeo and Juliet.” In Romeo and Juliet by Williams Shakespeare, the Capulets are seen as the more aggressive and cold family.When Juliet refuses to marry County Paris, Lord Capulet says, “I tell thee what: get thee to church a’ Thursday or never after look me in the face” (3.5.161-162, Shakespeare).The Capulets seem to be more passive aggressive and do not seem to care about others. The play even foreshadows that love isn’t enough, “Being purged, a fire sparkling in lovers’ eyes; being vexed , a sea nourished with loving tears. What is it else? A madness most discreet, a choking gall”(1.1.184-187). Romeo says that love is a madness. Romeo sees love as a disease that makes you miserable.Romeo and Juliet both went mad to get to each other doing it for love but it led to their deaths. Even if it was not between the lovers, love could not seem to work, “My only love sprung from my only hate! Too early seen unknown, and known too late!” (1.5.136-137).The man that Juliet loves does not feel the same and has feelings for another, she cannot have him because the love is not there.
