Whenever something goes wrong people always look for someone to blame. A lot of things went wrong in William Shakespeare's Romeo and Juliet, and even though many characters were blamed it was not one specific person's fault. It is both families' fault that all this tragedy occurred. In the prologue it explains the ongoing feud they have between the families. In the first scene it already shows the fighting and how the two different families do not get along. The two families fight like children! For example when in scene one Prince Escalus had to break up all the fighting. He decided to create a huge punishment (meaning death) if they fought again. Also Tybalt wanted to kill Romeo — a Montague — for attending a Capulet party. Even though he was a Montague he didn't harm anyone. If they did not fight, Friar Lawrence and the Nurse would not have had to keep Romeo and Juliet's love a secret. The parents were not really around to tell them right from wrong. Juliet's parents let the young girl go off on her own like an adult. They did not teach Romeo and Juliet how to act and they had to figure life out themselves. The young lovers both had Friar Lawrence and Juliet had the Nurse. However, they were more of friends than parents. For example when Friar Lawrence married Romeo and Juliet and did not think about consequences. Like when both the Nurse and friar kept their secret.
