As technology is becoming more advanced and is now becoming a necessity used by all types of people. Many people now use their electronics to answer any question they have. While poor people have to go to the library to find information about it. The possibility that libraries will continue to exist in our growing society is very likely. The main purpose of libraries will change in years to come. The issue is what will libraries be for future generations, I believe that these libraries are going to change to something new and exciting . Since there is a big difference between social classes. Many of the upper class has advantages that others don’t. One of the advantages is that the upper class is able to buy expensive study tools that would help their children, like a tutor resulting in their children getting a better education. Meanwhile the lower class does not have this advantage so they need to find other ways to get a better education. Which makes libraries more useful, because without having access to libraries it would be nearly impossible to get the same education as the upper class (Source C). For this reason, libraries are useful for people who don’t have extra money to set aside for learning, After all, libraries give access to tons of information that anyone can use for free. Libraries also give chances to people who don’t have access to technology to do something they have never tried before. An example would be a program called YOUmedia (source C). YOUmedia is a program used by teens who have access to a library, where they learn to use different types of recording and editing software. As a result these teens are able to learn a new skill that will benefit them in a society where technology is growing rapidly. Due to libraries being able to provide more resources like YOUmedia. These people believe that we are holding on to libraries as a way to keep our culture together. Siegler suggests that it will be impossible for libraries to exist and that their purpose is not needed anymore in our constantly evolving society (source E). What Siegler doesn’t understand is that libraries are still needed in society. Tons of people still utilize libraries today as a place for people to come together and learn something new. Even though there will be times where libraries are going to lose their purpose but they are going to evolve like the rest of us into a stronger location for the world to enjoy. Libraries still provide information to families where they are too poor to get new technology. Libraries help these poor families by giving them chances to borrow and use technologies that they never had a chance to use (source C). By learning about technology it helps keep these people from falling to the bottom of society.
