In “The Warrior’s Heart” by Eric Greitens the reader is shown many examples of perseverance and courage. Some examples are the final kung fu test, boxing, drown proofing, and hell week. For example in the final kung fu test the shifu was placing a sword to the throats of the students. Eric did not want to do this because he was afraid he would fail and the sword would wound him. However Eric conquered the fear and passed the test, this shows courage because most people would back out but Eric did not.
Socrates defines courage as “wise endurance of the soul.” Parkland hero Anthony Borges displayed this when he risked his life to save over 20 other students. Heroism Heroism is not something that is learned, it is something that people have. Some people will freeze in the face of danger, but if a person has heroism that person will rise and fight; no matter how big or how small a hero will fight for others, and will protect everyone. Merriam Webster says that heroism is defined as great act of bravery, and a person who will run into a burning building to save someone or facing danger in battle. Another definition of heroism is self sacrifice, putting others before you need to be brave you need courage. Heroism is like throwing yourself into a battle or self sacrifice, not a lot of people have this trait do you.
Courage is one of the most essential virtues, because without courage one cannot exhibit any other virtue
