Never would they have imagined going to school let alone attending college but because of them I was able to attend school, graduate high school, and attend college. Because of them I had the amazing opportunity to be born in one of the greatest countries in the world and study to become anything or anyone I wanted to be. Because of them and with the help of the Clark Construction Field Scholarship I am able to pursue a degree in Special Elementary education with a minor in Human services and speech pathology and audiology. Without being awarded the scholarship for the past two years my parents and I wouldn’t be able to afford tuition and I wouldn 't be able to pursue a degree. I am not sure what the future may hold for me
When the odds are stacked against me is when I truly believe I am strongest. A scholarship would assist me in achieving my long-term goal of Social Work and being able to help disadvantaged youth overcome adversity. My grades are not spectacular, but they are solid. I am persistent and I complete what I have started.
I believe that I am qualified for this scholarship because of how much I have grown at Wendell Baptist Church. It has helped me grow in my walk with God through missions and through serving. It has helped me appreciate the little things in life like the slides during services on sunday morning. Showing me that the little things like that do not just happen and some people put a lot of work into making them happen. Wendell Baptist Church has also shown me just how great my life is and how the problems I think I have are actually not that big of a deal in the long run.
The National Honors Society website explains that scholarship isn’t solely “a report card,” but rather, a “commitment to lifelong learning.” Since elementary school, the classroom has always been a place of learning, but so have local competitions, community museums, and my desk at
I have been taught my whole life to work hard and never give up, not for any reason. I feel I exemplify scholarship the most, because my grades have always been very important to me. I do any extra credit that I can so that I can go above the average grade in school. I have maintained straight A’s for the year and I have even had over 100% in English every term.
The Douglas Honors Diversity scholarship will help me achieve my educational and professional goals in many ways. This scholarship will help me continue my education and career path that I am passionate about. I am the first in my family to pursue a higher education. I am also the first in my family to deviate from a “set” path for me. I come from a family that lives off of state help, so we are not able to pay for a higher education.
This is the narrative I live every day in my thoughts. I have used scholarships as a devoted component throughout my high school career to drive me to achieve the highest academic standards possible in my pursuit of a degree. I put forth a lot
Although I am only in high school, I feel as though I have had a vast amount of opportunities that many other students my age have not been able to experience. Over the course of my high school career, I have recieved multiple superior awards for my science fair projects, as well as two ACE awards, which are two prime examples of how I have embodied the scholarship ideal for National Honor Society. Not only have I embodied the ideal of scholarship, but I have demonstrated the ideal of service through my involvement with Student Ambassadors. In addition, I dispkay the ideal of character when I decide to do the right thing, even during a tough situation.
Thank you for gifting a scholarship. Your’s truly, Owen Newton

I am proud of this accomplishment because it has gotten me a lot of good opportunities. For example I attend Young Women's Leadership Charter School, and there is an organization called Girl Power. Girl Power is resource my school has to attract funds. There is an event every year, and you are chosen to attend the event if you have
The Influence of Grit and Growth Mindset in one’s life In Eduardo Briceno’s view “The key to success is not simply effort, focus, or resilience, it is the growth mindset that creates them.” Grit is the quality that enables individuals to work hard enough and stick to their long-term passions and goals. Growth mindset is the intelligence that can be developed and the ability to accept debacle. Two special features that will help one achieve in academics, personal life, and career are grit and growth mindset.
But now that I am aware of how important education is, I knew I must put in the effort and time that it takes to be deserving of scholarship money. First, I must say this. I was born and raised in
Although it has been really tough I am still here fighting the good fight and planning my next move to accomplishing my goals, I want this scholarship so those goals will be achieved I want Portland State University to feel proud of me and not just some other student that drops out and is forgotten. This scholarship is a wonderful opportunity for students of GVSU, and I am honored to be considered for this scholarship. I believe that I am a great applicant for this scholarship, and that I deserve this scholarship. One reason I deserve this scholarship is because of my strong academic courses. Throughout my high school career, I pushed myself academically by taking a total of 10 AP classes and 7 honors classes. These classes were all challenging, yet I pushed through with determination to complete the classes to the best of my ability.
