Creating and Giving a Speech Ever had trouble writing a speech? I know I have, and I am sure we all do. I always had a hard time writing mine, only because I do not like writing down my thoughts. Writing a speech is not easy, nor giving it afterwards. And creating it is not an easy process if you have no idea what you’re doing. When starting to create your speech, you need to find your topic, then organize it accordingly, prepare and practice, and last but not least, perform your speech. First thing to do, and is probably the most critical, is find a topic. No speech can be done unless a topic is found. It can not be just any topic either. Preparing an outline helps prepare to give the speech also. Included in the introduction should be: attention getter, ethos, or why the person giving this speech is an expert or knows so much about it, and most importantly, the thesis. The body has the three, or more, main points of the speech. These are where information and details will be stated thoroughly. Stating details thoroughly ensures the audience knows exactly what is being said. They can easily follow along. Now, the conclusion is about the same as the introduction. Restate the thesis, explain or summarize the points stated in the body, then refer back to the attention getter used. After this, the speech is complete. All that is needed now is to present. After writing the outline, preparation for the speech is so easy. Follow the outline, and the speech will be golden! There is still a lot more than just following the outline. Sometimes a time limit will be set, and making that time limit depends on the information, details, length, et cetera on the speech. Making it into that timeframe is not always so easy. Timing it every time will ensure you make time limit, or cut back to make it. Practicing is also great, but memorizing is not a good thing either. Memorizing does not make it a speech then.
