1. This course focuses on developing your skillsets for critical thinking and intellectual independence through experimental design and problem-solving.
a. How are you planning on using this opportunity to develop yourself?
I am planning on using this opportunity to develop myself as an independent thinker. To truly understand the material presented in class, I think it is crucial to question if the information presented in class makes sense, rather than just accepting it and moving on. Also, I want to develop into a good presenter. For me, it is important to know how to present ideas to both internal audiences, such as managers or coworkers, and external audiences, such as vendors. Communicating and presenting work well will help me stand …show more content…

How will you measure your progression in these subjective areas?
I will measure my progression by writing a weekly reflection on what I have done in all classes that are relevant to becoming a better presenter and a better independent thinker. Also, I will ask Dr. Raikar to help me measure my progression, because I had a class with her before, therefore she knows my abilities.
c. What do you want to be able to do at the end of semester that you feel unable (or poorly equipped) to do now?
By the end of this semester, I want to be able to have good presentation skills. Having good presentation skills will help me prosper as an engineer. In order to sell my ideas, I must be able to communicate well with the audience, both internal and external. Also, I want to fully learn the MATLAB language. I have taken classes in coding before, however, I still struggle to understand the meaning behind some of the functions are …show more content…

I am interested in this career position because of my current internship. As an intern, I assisted in reviewing government technical data, manuals, standards and procedures to gain knowledge of the weapon systems that are mission critical for the warfighters. Also, I supported lead engineers by evaluating and reviewing failure analysis and first article testing reports. These tasks peaked my interests in becoming a product realization engineer because I want to learn more about the life cycle management system of complex systems over their life cycles and it is not something you can understand unless you experience it. Another career that I am interested in is water quality engineer. Last semester, I volunteered to pick up trash at Masonville Cove Environmental Education Center. While volunteering, I noticed that the quality of the water near the shore was not in the best condition and flooding is a huge problem there. This inspired me to consider becoming a water quality engineer because I want to use my chemistry and engineer background to produce designs of flood defenses structures such as pump systems and pipe networks and to develop a water treatment plan for the
